Placement vacancies - East Kent

Mr and Mrs 'F'

Mr. & Mrs. F. are in their 40's. They live in Margate and have been adult placement carers to one service user since Sept. 2005. This service user is now moving back home to her mother. In the time she has been with Mr. & Mrs. F. she has learned many new skills and has also enjoyed several holidays with them in France and Italy. She frequently went out for meals, shopping, coffee shops, ice skating, roller skating and cinema to give an example of the individualised care that was provided.

Another service user is in the early introductory stages to be placed with Mr. & Mrs. F. but in addition to him they would also like to consider another permanent service user in their other spare room as soon as the first person has settled in.

Mr. & Mrs. F. are both non-smokers and would request a non-smoking service user. The room being offered will probably be a downstairs room but bathroom is upstairs. They live in a 3 storey end of terrace house in a residential area with a small courtyard garden at the back. Their road is off a very busy main road but they are quite close to the town.

They have recently acquired 2 kittens and also have some tropical fish.

'SB' & 'JMT ' (respite)

S & J live in the centre of Ramsgate in a large house with 3 floors and a basement. They have four children under the age of 11 years and lead a busy family life which they are keen to share the benefits of with an Adult Placement client. They have 2 cats.

Both S & J have many years of experience in supporting people with learning difficulties and value developing independence within an encouraging and respectful environment. J has recently completed his nurse training and is employed as a registered nurse in a local hospital. S continues to work part-time in a local residential unit and is up to date in all training, having a sound knowledge base.

S & J already have two regular respite placements and would like to consider another person for short, regular stays. Age or gender is not a barrier and someone seeking a relatively active lifestyle would particularly benefit from the warm environment. S & J cannot consider someone with violent or aggressive behaviour.

The potential client needs to have a fair degree of mobility as the property can only be accessed by steps/stairs.
