What it means to be an Approved Provider

To reach this decision we firstly focus on quality. We look at the number of national minimum standards met by the service and the outcomes of our evaluation of the service. We also take into account feedback from care managers and other local authorities. We also regularly survey over 2,000 users of services for care in your own home.

Secondly, we check the price against the amount we expect to pay. If both quality and price are satisfactory, the service is regarded as an Approved Provider.

The status of Approved Provider is changeable because it depends on a service maintaining basic service standards and remaining affordable. Kent Adult Services monitors services providing care in your own home.

Care in your own home services may be awarded Approved Provider status, but may not necessarily have a contract. This is because despite the fact that they meet Kent's quality requirements, there is not enough demand to award everybody a contract.
