Consultation event: Improving Specialist Disability Employment Services

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) consultation on improving national specialist disability employment services. The consultation paper was called Helping people achieve their full potential: Improving Specialist Disability Employment Services.

The deadline to respond to the DWP was the 10 March 2008.

DWP want to make their work support services better so that any disabled person who wants a job can get the support they need to get a job and keep it. In the paper, there are some ideas for making work support services better. They want the system easier to use and make sure that it meets the needs of disabled people and employers. They also want to make it easier for Jobcentre Plus to meet people's needs. They want to know what people think of their ideas to make work support services for disabled people better, so people can find, keep and do well in work.

Kent County Council wants to make sure that as many disabled people as possible let DWP know what they think of their ideas. As a result, we held a consultation event, for disabled people, on the 11th February 2008 which was opened by Kevin Lynes, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services..
