BSc Hons Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapy Bureau is able to offer one place per
year to a Rehabilitation Co-ordinator on the four year, part time
in service course - BSc Hons Occupational Therapy.
The criteria are that the Rehabilitation Coordinator must have
been working with the OT Bureau for at least one year and the
selection process is by way of an interview and presentation to a
panel on a topical subject set in advance by the Head of the OT and
Sensory Disabilities Unit.
During the in service training the student is maintained on full
salary with travel expenses paid and a small contribution made
towards books. Paid leave is given for examinations, revision and
by negotiation study leave also. Release from normal work duties is
given for attendance at college two days a week and for the
additional field work placements which last from six to twelve
weeks on a full time basis.
For the duration of the course support will be given to the
student from a qualified Occupational Therapist within the OT
Bureau who will act as a mentor.
Foundation Programme - Occupational Therapy Skills
Canterbury Christchurch University offer a 4 year part time
foundation programme in Occupational Therapy skills.Rehabilitation
co-ordinators currently working for KCC can apply to undertake this
programme with support. There will be a selection process involving
interview with a panel of KCC Occupational Therapy staff and a
presentation.
The successful applicant will be supported at work under their
existing contract and pay, with day release to attend college and
negotiated leave to attend exams/study leave. The programme also
involves completion of various assignments and projects as required
by the syllabus.
