The Department of Health has a social work and care website which is an excellent resource.

Social care and social work career information (this link will open in a new window)
This website provides lots of information about career options, training, career pathways, etc. Through this web site you can order careers booklets and a video on both Social Care and Social Work.

Vocational Learning (this link will open in a new window)
This website has made use of the video from the Department of Health and has developed some activities related to this. The activities can be accessed from the web site.

General Social Care Council (this link will open in a new window)
The General Social Care Council (GSCC) has an informative website, particularly on the subject of careers in Social Work. Their learning and training section details all the universities that run degree courses in social work.
They also produce the Codes of Practice for Social Care Workers and Employers which you can order from their website.

Commission for Social Care Inspection (this link will open in a new window)
The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) has lots of useful resources on their website. From the CSCI home page follow the link captioned "What is Social Care". There is much useful information here, including case studies from service users (located in the section "Your stories about using care").
The CSCI website also contains the inspection reports from all registered care services.
