Accreditation

There is now a quality standard which will show how well your organisation is run and how well you manager the volunteers involved.

Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is a UK quality standard administered by Volunteering England, which recognises organisations' commitment to high-quality volunteer involvement.

Achieving the standard can lead to more volunteers, a better retention of volunteers, effective volunteer contribution and a qualification recognised by potential funders as good practice.

For further information visit the Investing in Volunteers website (link opens in a new window).

Media Training workshops

Kent Volunteers recently ran a series of very popular Media Training workshops designed to help organisations communicate better with the media.

The workshops covered topics on:

  • how to put your message across - including what is news and how to write a press release
  • getting the most out of a radio interview - the theory and the practical

If you would like to learn more about how to work with the media, visit the Volunteer Genie website (link opens in a new window). The site contains a wealth of information on:

  • planning an event or launch
  • working with designers and printers
  • choosing the best media space to get results for you
  • how to get editorial coverage
  • guerrilla marketing and stunts!
