These people received awards for their voluntary work in education and schools.

Winners

Angela Jones of Countywide

Angela has worked tirelessly to set up a youth division at Canterbury Gypsy Support Group and address the needs and rights of young Gypsies and Travellers in health, schools and youth services. Angela is actively working with young people from settled communities to promote a greater understanding of young Gypsies and Travellers.

The Dandelion Trust for Children of Maidstone

The Dandelion Trust works with children with significant emotional and behavioural difficulties, often with a history of abuse or neglect, and helps them to build self-worth and self-confidence. Through a creative programme of work and play, the volunteers involve parents and carers to help children strengthen relationships in the home environment and engage positively at school.

Eve Green of Rochester

Eve delivers weekly specialist dyslexia training to individuals supervised by the Probation Service, enabling the group to learn to read and write. Eve is very enthusiastic and has inspired her client group to achieve level one certificates, something they would never have thought possible. The individuals gain self-esteem and improve their employability and rehabilitation.
