Your County - Putting Kent First

Kent 4 star Council

Employee volunteering

Within the council's learning and development policy, staff are able to volunteer for two days a year as part of individual or team development. Encouragement is also given for involvement in public service duties such as school governor, magistrate and prison visitor and appropriate time is given to enable this. Information is also given about opportunities for volunteering in own time. The development of a staff charitable working group brings together the benefits of networking and sharing of good practice for any employee who wishes to get involved in any aspect voluntary activity.

Volunteering is accepted as now truly woven into our business and our staff care package. With a growing number of volunteers involved in public service delivery and not just lip service paid to work-life balance, we have a sound basis to gain further future benefits from promoting volunteering.
